1956 Volkswagen Type I ragtop

The 56 ragtop is still on hold. This will soon end with either work moving forward or us taking our toys and going home.  The priority is to get an oval ragtop. Our 56 is an oval ragtop but it has issues with the front hood and such.  It can be fixed for more $$$$ so we have been trying to find a better candidate.  I could find one, I actually did but if we go through Chris then the price would be prohibitive. The next step would be an oval without the ragtop.  This is much easier although matching numbers in good condition can still present a challenge.
We are still going for our ragtop but we keep looking for another candidate or just an oval.  Oval is the first priority. Chris' body man is Benny.

VW cabriolet needs some work

The 79 VW cabriolet needs a little bit of work.  Fuel smell--fuel pump and charcoal filter element.  Then check the valves and such.  Yesterday was a great day out with the top down.

Obama and his anti-American/Christian program of suffocation

The Obama regime is opposing rules to protect Christians in the military.  Their beliefs have come under fire since the regime was re-elected by low-information voters.
 Todd Starnes reports:

The Obama Administration “strongly objects” to a proposed amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act on Wednesday that would have protected the religious rights of soldiers – including evangelical Christian service members who are facing growing hostility towards their religion.

The amendment was authored by Rep. John Fleming, R-La. It would have “required the Armed Forces to accommodate ‘actions and speech’ reflecting the conscience, moral, principles or religious beliefs of the member.”
The Obama Administration said the amendment would have a “significant adverse effect on good order, discipline, morale, and mission accomplishment.”

The quote is classic because when the DADT order was lifted people argued that it would have a "significant adverse effect on good order, discipline, morale, and mission accomplishment."
Obama and his regime have demonstrated a clear pattern of anti-Christian behavior including forcing religious institutions to pay for Sandra Fluke's condoms. And she is a slut if she thinks others should pay for her sexual encounters, or maybe a prostitute is more accurate.
Congressman Fleming gave some examples.

He said there are other reports of Christian service members and chaplains being punished for their faith.

• The Air Force censored a video created by a chaplain because it include the word “God.” The Air Force feared the word might offend Muslims and atheists.
• A service member received a “severe and possibly career-ending reprimand” for expressing his faith’s religious position about homosexuality in a personal religious blog.
• A senior military official at Fort Campbell sent out a lengthy email officially instructing officers to recognize “the religious right in America” as a “domestic hate group” akin to the KKK and Neo-Nazis because of its opposition to homosexual behavior.
• A chaplain was relieved of his command over a military chapel because, consistent with DOMA’s definition of marriage, he could not allow same-sex weddings to take place in the chapel.

Time to wake-up dummies.Soon it will be too late.

Obamacare and the government class

There are two classes of people in the United States. The government class and the rest of us.

Dozens of lawmakers and aides are so afraid that their health insurance premiums will skyrocket next year thanks to Obamacare that they are thinking about retiring early or just quitting.
The fear: Government-subsidized premiums will disappear at the end of the year under a provision in the health care law that nudges aides and lawmakers onto the government health care exchanges, which could make their benefits exorbitantly expensive.

Duh of course it will make them "exorbitantly expensive."
So what is the answer for members of the government class?

If the issue isn’t resolved, and massive numbers of lawmakers and aides bolt, many on Capitol Hill fear it could lead to a brain drain just as Congress tackles a slew of weighty issues — like fights over the Tax Code and immigration reform.

Listen to this quote, typical government class speak:

Rep. John Larson, a Connecticut Democrat in leadership when the law passed, said he thinks the problem will be resolved.
“If not, I think we should begin an immediate amicus brief to say, ‘Listen this is simply not fair to these employees,’” Larson told POLITICO. “They are federal employees.”

"They are federal employees" as if that status accords them special privileges. This is the problem America faces today.  That and flies still are attracted to shit.

Obama, Clinton, and the 10pm phone call

Andrew McCarthy has a great piece out on the Benghazi terrorist attack.  This is where the focus in the investigation should be.

That is not true . . . and the truth, as we’ve come to expect with Obama, is almost surely worse. There is good reason to believe that while Americans were still fighting for their lives in Benghazi, while no military efforts were being made to rescue them, and while those desperately trying to rescue them were being told to stand down, the president was busy shaping the “blame the video” narrative to which his administration clung in the aftermath.
We have heard almost nothing about what Obama was doing that night. Back in February, though, CNS News did manage to pry one grudging disclosure out of White House mendacity mogul Jay Carney: “At about 10 p.m., the president called Secretary Clinton to get an update on the situation.”
Obviously, it is not a detail Carney was anxious to share. Indeed, it contradicted an earlier White House account that claimed the president had not spoken with Clinton or other top administration officials that night.
The earlier story better fit Obama’s modus operandi, which is to disappear in times of crisis. His brief legislative career was about voting “present” because he prefers to be absent when accountability knocks. The idea is to be the Obama of Evan Thomas lore: “standing above the country, above — above the world, he’s sort of God.” He reemerges only after the shooting stops and the smoke clears: gnosis personified, here to diagnose our failings. He is not a commander-in-chief for the battle but the armchair general of the post mortem

The original purpose of this site was to focus on life in America and the society of our country.  It's been a while but today we will push the issue a bit more.  Obama and his administration have been corrupt from the first day.  America continues to decline due to this president's leadership. Normal everyday people have taken the cue from Obama and they are beginning to exhibit some of the same types of qualities he has. Dishonesty, false narratives, smugness, and a lack of responsibility are common traits today.
The mainstream media is a collaborator and co-conspirator in these actions.  They report nothing which their liberal leash holders won't allow. 
The crew here at the Pie supports individual freedom and responsibility. We will continue to fight for these everywhere we go. We also intend to begin a much more vigorous defense of these ideas. It is time to engage these fucking people who are intent on tearing the fabric of our society. We will make a statement on Tuesday, May 21 during the Pennsylvania primary election when we cast our ballots.

Frustrated in the Valley

Barry from PA contacted me earlier this year to get an Oval Ragtop bug for a “Build-A-BuG” project. So I asked “find one for ya?” Piece of CAKE! Easily went online and found a Cali rag that already has had a lot of the work done already.  I love getting cars from Cali, they are dry and usually rust free, this one is no exception.  Barry will be going to a color scheme that many of you are familiar with, Strato Silver. We start later this year.

Car woes at Chris Vallone's ClassicVW's

We are waiting on a phone call from Chris Vallone.  We like Chris but our attitude is becoming poor.
More delays, which we can deal with if they are approached in an honest way, cost overruns, this on a car that he picked and told us to buy, and lack of communication from him.  Ask him to call, he emails.
And more emails.    Since he has had our car, now 14 months, he has done a 67, 53, and now he is working on a Zwitter for himself.  Priorities baby, priorities.  \
We had this idea that he would try to get more and more cash because his business model is so nebulus.
As a business person, he absorbs any cost overruns not the customer. At least that is what we did when we ran our 5 photography businesses and our leasing company and the real estate company we have.
